Age Suitability

WeCamino is a social app for pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago and other long-distance trails. This page explains who the app is designed for and the nature of its content.

Recommended Age: 16 and Older

WeCamino is ideally suited for users aged 16 and older. While the minimum age to create an account is 13, the app is built around experiences like long-distance pilgrimage walks, real-time location sharing, and an open social community that are best suited to a teenage or adult audience.

Users under 18 should have a parent or guardian's permission before creating an account, as noted in our Terms of Service.

What the App Contains

WeCamino includes the following types of content and features:

  • Social community: users can post updates, photos, and messages visible to other pilgrims. Content is user-generated and moderated, but may include personal stories, religious themes, and discussion of physical challenges encountered on the trail.
  • Real-time location sharing: users can optionally share their live location on the trail with other pilgrims. This feature is opt-in and can be disabled at any time in Settings.
  • Pilgrim profiles: users create public profiles with a display name, photo, and home country. Users can follow and message each other.
  • Route and place information: community-sourced information about Camino stages, albergues, restaurants, and points of interest.

Content Standards

WeCamino does not contain adult content, graphic violence, or explicit material. Our community standards prohibit:

  • Sexually explicit or pornographic content
  • Content that is abusive, hateful, or harassing
  • Content that promotes or facilitates illegal activity

Violations are handled through our moderation process. Users can report content using the flag icon on any post, or via the ⋯ menu on any profile. See our Terms of Service for full community guidelines.

Privacy

We take user privacy seriously, particularly for younger users. Location sharing is strictly opt-in, and all personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Users can delete their account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Privacy → Delete Account.
